Volunteer Role Title: Volunteer Ability Works Employment Support Assistant, Benfleet

Location: The Burrell Wellbeing Centre (formerly known as Thundersley Methodist Church) Kennington Avenue Benfleet Essex SS7 4BS

Accountable to: Ability Works Manager

Hours: Third Wednesday of every month 10am – 12 midday

Purpose of Role

Are you passionate about helping autistic adults and people with learning disabilities build confidence and move towards employment? Hamelin’s Links Project is looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to support our employment support group sessions in Witham, held on the third Tuesday of every month.

You will be assisting the Hamelin Employment Lead or Manager in group sessions which will include a short employability topic, practical activities, opportunities for discussion, and personalised support based on individual needs.

 

What you could help with:

• Supporting people with CV writing

• Assisting with job searches and applications

• Encouraging confidence and communication skills

• Identifying skills and strengths

• Helping individuals explore volunteering or training opportunities

• Offering a welcoming and supportive environment

• Providing general encouragement and practical support

 

Attributes/Skills needed

· Friendly, patient and approachable manner

· Good communication and listening skills

· Ability to work with autistic adults and people with learning disabilities

· Reliable and supportive attitude

· Basic IT or CV writing knowledge would be helpful but not essential

· No formal qualifications or previous experience required, as guidance and support will be provided

• Enhanced DBS (completed and paid for by Hamelin)
