We know that finding the right long-term home for someone with significant disabilities is a big decision. The Bungalow in Wickford is a permanent home for five people who need at least one-to-one support, 24 hours a day. You can feel confident that your loved one is being cared for by experienced, compassionate staff who understand their needs and routines.
Support at the Bungalow is tailored to each resident and covers all aspects of daily life, including personal care, medication and feeding. Our team works closely with each person to ensure their routines, preferences and individual needs are always respected.
Residents are encouraged to live a full and meaningful life, both at home and in the wider community. They take part in group and individual activities at the bungalow, explore local amenities, and enjoy holidays or day trips. Activities are always designed around what they enjoy and are able to do, helping them get the most out of every experience.
You are always welcome to visit your loved one, as the bungalow is their home for life. We focus on creating a warm, inclusive environment where residents feel safe, valued and supported to live life on their own terms.

The Bungalow has five bedrooms
The levels of support provided at the Exchange is determined after an assessment has been carried out and agreed upon by the service manager, social workers and the individual’s support network. Currently we offer 1:1 or 2:1 support. Individuals also have the option to attend the Exchange with their own support or personal assistant(s).
Yes. Each resident has their own private bedroom, which they are encouraged to personalise to feel comfortable and at home.
Bedrooms do not have en-suite facilities, but each room includes its own sink, with shared bath and shower rooms available within the bungalow. These communal facilities are fully accessible and designed to meet individual support needs.
No. Families and friends are welcome to visit at any time, as the bungalow is the residents’ home. We encourage regular contact and involvement from loved ones.
The Bungalow is staffed to meet residents’ needs at all times. Typically, there are four staff members at any one time, with two waking night staff to ensure continuous support and safety throughout the night.
Residents are supported to access the community daily and take part in a wide range of activities. Group activities include tennis, swimming and bowling, while individual interests are also supported wherever possible.
Indoor activities include massage sessions, games, arts and crafts, music sessions and sensory activities. Residents also enjoy an annual holiday and themed activity weeks, which may include trips further afield for special days out.
The service has access to an adapted, wheelchair-accessible bus as well as a car, enabling residents to travel safely and comfortably for outings, appointments and activities.
