Wayne has been volunteering at our Roots & Shoots horticultural project for the past year, giving up three days of his time every week.
Before becoming a volunteer, Wayne attended our Ability Works employment project for autistic adults and people with learning disabilities. After completing the programme, he wanted to continue building his experience and decided to stay on as a volunteer.
His nomination reads: "Wayne has become a valued member of the Roots & Shoots team and is always happy to help wherever needed. He works in lots of different areas of the garden and has even helped with putting in a new water system.
"Wayne also takes on important jobs such as taking rubbish to the bins and cleaning and stocking the toilets, which saves staff a huge amount of time. He takes real pride in his work and always sees a job through to the end.
"Wayne works really well with other volunteers and the people attending Roots & Shoots and is always friendly, polite and supportive. He is also happy to volunteer at additional events throughout the year, including our Easter party and Christmas tree collection project. Wayne's dedication and willingness to help really makes a difference."
