Peter has been volunteering once a week at our Roots & Shoots horticultural project for the past year and has become a much-loved member of the team.
Peter has a real passion for gardening and isn't afraid to get stuck into jobs that others might avoid, especially weeding, which has become something of a speciality! He works incredibly hard to keep the gardens looking their best and often sets himself a goal and won't stop until the job is done.
His nomination reads: "Peter is a huge asset to the team at Roots & Shoots. He has a love for gardening and is incredibly hard working. There are always lots of weeds to tackle and Peter takes it upon himself to keep on top of them, helping to make the gardens safe and enjoyable for everyone.
"As well as weeding, Peter helps with many other jobs around the garden, including potting plants and cutting the grass. Whatever the task, Peter approaches it with enthusiasm and determination.
"Peter is also great company and fun to have around. He gets on well with everyone and is always supportive of both the people attending the service and other volunteers. He has become a fantastic role model and mentor to others and really makes a difference to the whole Roots & Shoots community."
