Pete has been volunteering with our Links befriending project for more than three years and continues to make a huge difference to the people he supports.
Pete runs a weekly Links group in Chelmsford at Geek Retreat and also mentors several participants on a one-to-one basis, sharing his own lived experience to help others.
His nomination reads: "Pete consistently goes above and beyond to support participants, helping them to grow in confidence and making sure everyone feels included within the group.
"Pete is a fantastic mentor and has a thoughtful and insightful way of sharing his own experiences to help participants better understand themselves and their diagnosis. His support helps people realise they are not alone and gives them confidence to tackle challenges they may be facing.
"Pete's guidance and encouragement have had a life-changing impact for many people. One participant has even been able to return to volunteering thanks to Pete's support. The difference Pete makes through his patience, understanding and unique approach cannot be overstated."
