Frank is a volunteer mini-bus driver for Hamelin enhancing the lives of the people we support by enabling them to access places they wouldn’t normally be able to get to. Frank communicates really well with the people we support who love the trips out. He has created a great relationship with our people as well as staff who say ‘he isn't just our driver, he has really become a big part of our group’.
His nomination reads: “Frank encourages the people we support in everything they do and has introduced them to some of his passions such as cricket. He took them to his cricket club, showed them around and taught them how to play. Everyone looks forward to seeing Frank. He also takes an active role in helping to plan trips. Staff say ‘Frank is a truly amazing individual and we are lucky to have him.’
Frank is funny, kind, helpful and understanding. He is very thoughtful and thinks of interesting things for our people to do.
Frank goes above and beyond the call of duty and really demonstrates our value of ‘we think differently’ by doing a lot more than driving the bus, coming up with his own ideas and taking time to make activities for our people.”
Frank said: "I was surprised and truly honoured to win the award. I am in a fortunate position to be able to give my time to support the group, and Monday with them is undoubtedly a highlight of my week; we've had a lot of fun since I came on board last year. Volunteers at Hamelin are without exception good people, all worthy of recognition. To be singled out for an award is rather humbling. Thank you all."
