Finley started attending Hamelin's Ability Works programme last year which is designed to support individuals develop the skills, confidence, and experience needed for employment. Finley now volunteers on the programme to help others.
His nomination reads: “From the outset, Finley's enthusiasm and aptitude for learning stood out, positioning him as a key participant.
“He has such interest in all the participants and comes up with great ideas for workshops and activities. He gives his time three days a week to help our participants find work and improve their lives. Finley has gained practical experience in a work-like environment, enhancing both his communication and leadership skills.
“Finley’s presence in the volunteer role has had a positive influence on group dynamics and participant morale and he has become an informal mentor to other participants, offering peer support and encouragement. Finley has made a huge difference in this role and really demonstrates our value of ‘we enhance lives’ to all those he supports as well as enhancing delivery of the Ability Works project.”
