Hamelin welcomed MP Richard Holden to our Billericay site to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the care sector and how Hamelin is responding by developing bold, innovative, and collaborative programmes.

During the visit, Mr Holden, who represents Basildon and Billericay in Parliament, met with senior members of the Hamelin team to hear about the pressures on care providers, from rising demand to funding constraints, and how Hamelin is developing the way with person-centred solutions.

Hamelin showcased its pioneering initiatives designed to empower autistic adults and people with learning disabilities, ensuring they get the specialist care and opportunities they deserve to deliver their aspirations and aims for a fulfilling life.

Mr Holden was keen to hear how these forward-thinking approaches could help shape future policy and create a more sustainable, effective care system.
Ru Watkins, Hamelin Chief Executive, said: "The care sector is facing real challenges, but at Hamelin, we believe innovation and collaboration are the keys to making a lasting difference.

“We are developing pioneering programmes and working with partners in the charity and public sectors to put the needs of autistic adults and people with learning disabilities first. This will ensure they have the support, opportunities, and independence they deserve.

“It was valuable to share our vision with Richard and explore how we can all work together to drive real change in what are uncertain times."

Richard Holden, MP for Basildon and Billericay, said: "Hamelin does so much in our community, which is why meeting and listening to them is so important.

“They explained how challenging it is in the care sector with constant rising costs, especially with the negative impact from the Government’s Budget – with the rise in National Insurance Tax costing them around £100,000 a year – funds that should be going into the community are now needed to cover the rise in taxes.

“But that won’t stop Hamelin. They will continue to grow and adapt, and the brilliant team are focused on what matters – the people in need. Hearing their experience and expertise is invaluable information for me to take back into Parliament and to raise with the Government."
