Hamelin hosted its annual volunteer celebration event this week, recognising the incredible contribution of those who generously give their time to support others across our community.
Held at Little Channels in Chelmsford, the event welcomed around 40 volunteers from Hamelin services across Essex for a day dedicated to appreciation and reflection.
The celebration began with a team-building morning featuring a range of games, including giant Jenga, noughts and crosses, ring toss and higher or lower. The activities gave people the chance to meet volunteers from different services, build new connections and enjoy some friendly competition alongside Hamelin staff.
Guests then enjoyed a three-course lunch before the highlight of the day, the annual volunteer awards ceremony.
Seven volunteers were recognised for going above and beyond in their roles. The awards reflected Hamelin’s core values, We are community, We enhance lives and We think differently, celebrating individuals who consistently demonstrate those principles through their volunteering. Nominated by the people Hamelin supports, the winners received certificates, commemorative plaques and a hotel break generously donated by charity partner Room to Reward.
Julie Atkinson, Volunteer Manager, said it was the perfect day to celebrate the people at the heart of Hamelin's work.
She said: “Our volunteers play such an important role in helping people feel connected, supported and valued, so it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to bring everyone together and celebrate their contribution. Seeing volunteers from different services meeting, sharing experiences and enjoying the day together was incredibly special.
“The awards are always a highlight because they shine a light on the extraordinary acts of kindness, dedication and commitment that happen throughout the year. Reading through the nominations is a powerful reminder of the impact our volunteers have on the people we support.
“While only a handful of volunteers can receive an award on the day, every single person who gives their time to Hamelin makes a difference. We are enormously grateful for everything they do and proud to have such an inspiring volunteer community.”
Stories from this year’s award winners will be shared on Hamelin’s website and social media channels over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out to learn more about the inspiring people behind the awards.
