Hamelin supporter scoops £250 in make a smile lottery draw

Lottery

Congratulations to Roger Hornett, one of our make a smile lottery players, who recently scooped £250 in the weekly draw!

Roger plays the lottery in aid of Hamelin and was delighted to receive a telephone call telling him one of his tickets had won a top prize in the draw on 23rd February.

He said: “It was a lovely surprise to have won and I’m sure the money will be put to good use treating the grandchildren and supporting some wonderful causes.”

Roger first started playing make a smile lottery in January 2023 and decided to support Hamelin to give something back to a local cause and help make a difference.

He said: “When I heard about the lottery, Hamelin stood out as the charity to support because not only is it local to me, but you can really see the positive impact the charity has on people’s lives.

“One of my grandchildren is autistic and another has additional needs, so I know first-hand how important it is for people and their families to get the right support. It’s really important to raise awareness so people with a learning disability or autism can get the support they need to reach their full potential.”

Roger and his wife, Chris, are no strangers to supporting charitable causes. For decades they have been involved in organising many events from quiz nights to auctions to raise funds for numerous charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Roger said he very much enjoys what he does and feels it’s important to help ‘build a community for everyone.’

Thank you to Roger and all of our make a smile lottery supporters for helping to make a difference!
